INT@J Introduces The ICTES Sector to E-commerce Market Opportunities & Barriers

The Information Technology Association- Jordan (int@j), will be conducting an introductory event to highlight major cases within the e-commerce industry, and to shed light on the major opportunities and barriers to be presented by key stakeholders within the field. The event will take place on August 12th 2009, at the Sheraton hotel under the patronage of H.E Eng. Amer Al Hadidi Minister of Industry & Trade, and H.E Eng. Basem Al Rousan Minister of ICT.

The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Industry & Trade and aims at increasing the level of e-commerce awareness for the Jordanian ICT & ICT Enabled Services companies. Furthermore, the event will highlight the major barriers, opportunities for e-commerce growth in the country, how it works, and how to find creative ways to put this knowledge into practice by participating in local, regional and international electronic communications and commerce initiatives.

The expected outcome of this event includes a high level overview of the e-commerce position in the country, the major barriers hindering this industry’s growth, the major opportunities that should be capitalized on, and a set of actions & recommendations to be given to support the industry.

E-commerce is one of the most visible examples of the way in which information and communication technologies (ICT) can contribute to economic growth. It helps countries improve trade efficiency and facilitates the integration of developing countries into the global economy. It also allows businesses and entrepreneurs to become more competitive, and provides jobs, thereby creating wealth.
