Daman Program
int@j and other entities signed an MoU to facilitate the implementation of the Daman Program. This MoU includes a list of global brand-names and labels of ICT products, to be exempted from the routine testing process, the largest source of complaints filed by the ICT sector to-date.
Amending Two-Percent Income Tax
The Jordanian Prime Ministry has issued a decree affecting a 2% pre-income tax deduction on the value of all goods imported into the Kingdom.
int@j strongly opposed this new law as it carries substantial negative effects on the ICT sector. int@j has issued a request for the ICT sector to be exempt from the two-percent income tax withholding policy on the cost / invoice value of imported goods.
int@j succeeded in leveraging an official decree issued by the Prime Minister detailing the terms and conditions that need to be met by importers in order to pass the imbursement of additional tax fees.
ICT Company Classification
int@j has taken responsibility and duty in advocating with the government and authorities in considering IT companies "industrial" (subject to 15% income tax) rather than "trading" (subject to 25%).
1% tax R&D Project
int@j conducted an analysis to determine the appropriate taxation system, in which 1% R&D Tax is the most appropriate scenario to implement. int@j identified the current procedures of categorizing R&D activities along with setting standards for spending behaviors and creating an updated mechanism that classifies expenditures eligible to be treated as R&D.
