Continuing its commitment to invest in the growth of the Middle East Region, and to expanding its leadership in the Middle East IT market, HP has established new subsidiary, as well as a competency centre in Jordan.
The subsidiary has sales, services and support responsibility for customers in Jordan, and will allow HP to better serve its existing customers and achieve the customer proximity necessary to extend its reach to all economic segments as well as Local and Central Government organisations.
Widely considered one of the Region’s foremost Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Information and Communications Technology Enabled Services (ICTES) industry events, the 2010 Forum presents the ideal platform for such an announcement as it attracts some 500 key executives and decision makers in government and the private sector from around the world and region and features over 65 distinguished speakers from leading private and public ICT and ICTES entities from around the globe, who will convene in Amman to deliberate the MENA regions most current and pressing ICT and ICTES concerns.
In addition HP has created a regional competency centre in Amman that will cover the Middle East region. The centre will mainly focus on delivering HP Solutions and Services at customer’s sites across the Middle East. Such centre will provide an opportunity to Jordan graduates to join an international delivery centre, and work on projects that span multiple Middle East countries.
Through a collaboration with Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), HP hired top university graduates that joined HP Graduate program in Jordan, and are now part of HP Competency centre in Amman.
“HP’s recent investment in the Kingdom is a testament to Jordan’s standing as a destination of choice for the Middle East and North Africa region and beyond”, said Marwan Juma, Jordanian Minister of ICT. He also emphasized that “we strongly value the relationship with HP and will continue to work with them towards a deeper and more integrated partnership”
“We are pleased to be collaborating with the major universities in Jordan, such as the Jordan University of Science and Technology, to address innovations in education and to prepare local students to succeed in a global marketplace. As one of the world’s leading IT companies, we have a responsibility to equip young people with the skills they need to be competitive,” said Santiago Cortes, vice president and managing director, HP Middle East, Mediterranean & Africa (MEMA)
